Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

butch_sundance_posterThe first thing one comes to realize when watching “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” is of how far the world has come in terms of globalization. Never have humans been so close yet so alone, and the film gives viewers this sense of ages past, where the pastures were greener and lifestyle was calmer (even though the film is, incidentally, a western about robberies and adventures). Its selection of a soft color palette shows a pristine touch of beauty through details, such as the kind touch of light over a female protagonist, or the long landscape takes that seem so remote to people nowadays. On a downside, it can become slow, but it only does this to create emphatic dialogue lines which give the film a lighthearted and entertaining touch, whilst the framing of each scene creates a picturesque portrait that makes it a western classic.
