The Little Prince

the_little_prince_282015_film29_posterBased on the French book that goes by the same name, but creating a story of its own, the Little Prince tries and somewhat succeeds in bringing to life the work of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Sadly, it doesn’t bode well telling one story or the other, and in mixing them both fails to express the heartwarming feeling that the print book gives its readers. And although the book’s animated parts are gorgeous and beautiful, they get lost amid the film as a whole as they are continuously broken in fragments – and one can only sigh when thinking how the film could’ve panned out if the focus of it had been entirely on the story of the little prince. In short: it would have been better for audiences to watch a short film about the book itself, instead of an elongated one that tries too hard to show its French essence through clichés.
