Les Triplettes de Belleville

A superb animated comedy by Sylvain Chomet, as usual. Invokes locales that you can feel, hear, smell, and touch (The frog pond & dinner // The slums // the rickety cafés). Through his exaggerated lines he conveys his own messages (the enslavement of the dog through food, the square men, the symmetrical takes). Finally, through his use of animation and screenplay he sets the mood for the audience as he wishes it to be (A long-gone epoch, the golden era which has left us all behind).
